“Be brave enough to suck at something new”

-Linda Horton

It has been a fun and busy week as I worked in as much time on the development of this site as possible. I now have the site in what I would consider Initial Operating Capacity (IOC), so I am going to claim it as my first completed project for my portfolio. Websites are living documents and this site is no exception. It will continue to grow as my skills with JavaScript and CSS continue to improve.

However, I met my initial design intent for the site which was to create a space to host my weekly blogs and portfolio space for my projects. Next up will be integrating weekly vlogs into the website and establishing all the back side processes that come along with making that happen.

I can honestly say it has been over 20 years since I designed and published a website. It is good to see how much easier it is now versus back then. I am not surprised but I am grateful at all the documentation and material that is available. That is something we did not have a lot of back in the day. I’m sure it would seem foreign to some, but you had to own books and hard copies of technical manuals if you wanted to learn or troubleshoot an issue. Sure, we had forums for online collaboration, but nothing like Stack Overflow or Reddit. At this point I have been able to find the information I need to overcome issues within in matter of minutes. It is a welcome change from the way I remember the process going two decades ago.

It has been a great week and I look forward to all the new things I will discover and new problems to be overcome as my journey continues!
